Introduction: Treatment adherence in children with type 1 diabetes is a major concern in diabetes management. Family-centered care plays a key role in assisting healthcare teams to improve patient health and deliver more effective services. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of implementing a family-centered care program on treatment adherence in children with type I diabetes. Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted in 2024 in Ahvaz, Iran, involving 45 children with type I diabetes and one of their family members. Participants were selected using simple random sampling and received family-centered empowerment training. Treatment adherence was assessed using the Modanloo Adherence Questionnaire before and three months after the intervention. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26, employing descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. Results: The mean (±SD) adherence score increased significantly from 108.11 ± 22.45 before the intervention to 168.44 ± 5.51 after the intervention (P<0.001). The family-centered care program led to a statistically significant improvement in treatment adherence. Conclusion: Family-centered education can positively influence treatment adherence in children with type I diabetes. Empowering both the children and their families may contribute to preventing complications, reducing treatment costs, and enhancing the overall quality of life.
