In this regard, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of dialectical behavior therapy and metacognitive psychotherapy on depression and fasting blood sugar in patients with type II diabetes. Materials and Methods: The present applied clinical trial was conducted based on a pre-test post-test design with a control group. It should also be mentioned that the subjects of this study were followed up for three months. The participants were selected from the patients referring to Mashhad Diabetes Research Center, Mashhad, Iran. For the purposes of the study, the subjects were randomly divided into two experimental groups (n=40) and one control group (n=20). The collected data were analyzed and examined in SPSS software (version 21) using statistical tests. Results: Based on the findings, there was a significant difference between the mean value of intervention and control groups (P<0.05). In other words, dialectical behavior therapy and metacognitive psychotherapy significantly reduced depression and fasting blood sugar in patients with type II diabetes.
