Introduction: Diabetes is a chronic disease that requires self-care behaviors in order to effectively control, prevent its progress and complications. People who have chronic diseases struggle with many problems, one of which is satisfaction with life, which can be solved in different ways. Considering the positive effects of self-efficacy beliefs and religious adaptation, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between religious adaptation and self-efficacy beliefs in type II diabetic patients.
Materials and Methods: The current research was of a descriptive-correlation type. The research population consisted of diabetic patients referred to the internal department of Amirul Mominin Ali (A.S.) Hospital, who were selected using a goal-based method and completed three questionnaires including demographic characteristics, religious compatibility questionnaire, and self-efficacy questionnaire. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 22 software and using descriptive statistics and analytical statistics.
Results: The average score of religious compatibility was 56.36 and the average score for self-efficacy belief was 54.37, which indicates that religious compatibility and self-efficacy belief in type II diabetic patients were at a favorable level. According to the Pearson correlation test, there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy belief and religious adaptation (0.001), so it can be said that the higher the religious adaptation, the higher the self-efficacy belief.
Conclusion: According to the findings of the research, it seems that the increase in religious compatibility has been effective on the self-efficacy of the studied sample. Self-efficacy, on the other hand, has an effect on adapting to life's problems through religious adaptation and leads to changes in the quality and satisfaction of people's lives.
